I apologize for the lack of posting. The past week was a bit of a roller coaster between work and conferences and other things. I will skip the work stuff and go right into the weekend since that was the more fun part of the week! On Friday I decided to flex my culinary muscles again and make this recipe from the May issue of Fitness Magazine. I had to use frozen bay scallops instead of fresh since that was all the store had when I went. Anyway…
The recipe came out really delish and we had plenty of leftovers! I think it’d taste even better with the fresh scallops. Scott had the rest of the leftovers for lunch today.
On Saturday, we hopped the train to 30th Street Station so I could run the 19th annual University City 5K at Drexel. I ran into one of my sorority sisters and her fiance which was awesome. The 5K was fun, although hotter than I anticipated. I started out REALLY fast with close to an 8 min mile! Then I slowly became more molasses-like and finished the race in 27min.
After the 5K, Scott and I ventured down to the bookstore since he was in search of sweatpants. Of course we ended up getting more than that. I guess I was feeling a little nostalgic.
For lunch, we went to New Deck Tavern since we hadn’t been there in years. It was fun visiting our old haunts. I had their baked potato soup which to this day still remains my favorite.
We caught the train back to Suburban Square and decided to visit City Sports. Scott wanted one of their tees and I checked out their running gear. With my half marathon coming up on Sunday (EEEK!), I decided to pick up a few things.
As if our Saturday wasn’t packed enough, Scott spent the rest of the afternoon changing out the headlights in his car while I napped and showered. We grabbed dinner at Wawa and headed to the movie theater in hopes to see Thor in IMAX. It was sold out so we got the 3D showing instead (it was only 8 bucks bc Scott had two coupons!). I loved the movie. Iron Man and Iron Man 2 are still my most favorites of the Marvel movies, but Thor was definitely up there. We also caught the preview for Captain America which looks awesome as well. I know some girls may not want to see Thor, but if your BF really wants you to go with him, know there is definitely some good eye candy for you ladies!
Sunday we visited Scott’s mom and grandparents up near Allentown. We spent most of the day hanging around their house then all went out to dinner at Red Lobster. It was okay, but I wasn’t exactly knocked over by the food. I guess I am spoiled having lived so many years near the DE and MD beaches. Sorry for the long and tedious post! I hope I can update a little more frequently now last week is over!
