I’ve been feeling a little off over the past month or so, which I think has somewhat been evident here on the blog. I am trying to sort things out, but in the meantime decided to focus on a couple things (or several) that would help perk me up. One thing? Retail therapy! In the form of shoes. Tall shoes. I’m talking 5-5.5” heels tall.
Lucky Brand
Steve Madden
I’m a sucker for a good deal on cute shoes, and scored these two babies off Hautelook a little over a week ago. The Luckys come in at 5” and the Maddens are 5.5”, which if you’ve kept track would bring me to a towering 6’2.5”. Word. Generally, the bf thinks when I wear tall shoes and my height is above his, it looks stupid, but what do guys know?
Plus, I refuse to let only the average and short height girls enjoy cute shoes.
Moving along. If you saw my Twitter or Facebook statuses in the last 24 hours, you’ll know what these next shoes are for.
Soccer! Or football, as everyone else in the world calls it. I had been debating for ages on dusting off my old cleats and signing up for a league. I bit the bullet yesterday and registered for a spring co-ed 8v8 league that starts at the end of March. I’m pretty stoked to get back into playing (I played in high school, and a little in college) and it will give me a nice spring sport to focus on (other than running). I still have to find my shin guards, but I have a feeling I know what box they are buried in. I’m also happy the league starts a bit more than two months from now so I have time to get a little more conditioned to play. It has been AGES. I can’t wait to have soccer legs again. And a sock tan. WOO.
While searching for my soccer shoes, I found this hat that made me grin ear to ear.
It’s a beanie. A domo-kun beanie, to be exact. IT’s the best hat ever, if you ask me. If you are not a nerd and aren’t into anime and/or Japanese cartoon characters, you likely have no idea what this little guy is (you can google it). I am all those things, and this hat was the prize when an ex I dated in college went to an anime con and brought this home for me (I asked for a plushy, but they were sold out). I may have to bring the hat to Maine, just for fun. Speaking of Maine…
Yes, I ordered myself another pair of Roxy goggles. I wanted darker lenses, and the pair I have they don’t sell lenses for anywhere (I looked). Plus, these were just so pretty I couldn’t say no!
Should anyone need to borrow a pair, I now have an extra to lend. I should probably start making a list of things to remember to pack this weekend considering how forgetful I’ve been this week.
And, now that I have mentioned the weekend, there is an event I am heading to this Saturday! City Sports in Ardmore is having a grand re-opening of their store in Suburban Square. The event is from 10am-1pm with a 5K Fun Run as well (I believe registration begins at 10:30am?). There will be over $1000 in merch giveaways, a DJ, and the first 100 people get a goodie bag and a chance to win a $250 shopping spree (I got this info all from the email they sent me). I may not make the first 100 list, but I am definitely looking forward to checking out the new store (and maybe getting more soccer gear?). If anyone in the area is interested in coming out, let me know and we can meet up!
