My First Successful Yoga Inversion

I’m feeling a little deflated today.  It’s probably just end of the week weariness and I’ll snap out of it as the afternoon rolls in.  Hopefully at least.  However, I made a big step during yoga last night and I felt kind of cool for a while after.  I know it’s likely not a big deal to more experienced yogis, but I succeeded in doing my first inversion last night!

I switched up my class time and went to the 6:00pm one instead of the 4:30 class.  Jane teaches at 6:00 and her class involved a lot of binds and twists and then she walked us through some inversions.  A lot of people nailed headstand and handstand and crow.  All of those baffle me and I figured I’d just half-ass my way through and hope one day I’ll be at that level.  And then on the second try, I got into this pose!  Word.  I’m hoping this means headstand is not too far in my future.

Tonight we’re heading into the city to see Bassnectar.  I dig a lot of his music and it should be a pretty good show.  I don’t really know the other couple we’re going with that well, it’s one of the bf’s coworkers and the dude’s wife.

Other weekend plans are a soccer game, yoga, and some running.  Nothing fancy.  Hope everyone has a good weekend ahead!

  2. that’s awesome! binds are so hard for me, i have to remember to breathe and i swear just when the pose becomes uncomfortable is when they decide to actually start making you hold it haha! yeah i’m tired today and i have a lot to accomplish in the next few hours. this weekend will be relaxation time for sure since the weather is looking crap! aahhh! i love bassnectar! it comes onto my justice pandora radio station a ton! have a blast!!

  3. Woot congrats! Binds are so hard, I usually half ass them a ton too :P I just recently got into tripod too!

  4. Way to go!!!! Best feeling to do something new we think we can’t. Last week, I got myself solo up into a supported (And semi-unsupported and then supported again) headstand. I’m working on balancing without the wall. Improvement feels good :)

  5. That’s awesome! I still struggle with inversions, but had a semi successful crow moment last week and I was ecstatic! Hope you had a fun weekend and enjoyed the show!
