Monday already?! My brain is still recovering from the fly-by weekend that happened. What was going to be only a semi-planned weekend ended up being far more busy than I planned. There was beer, there was wine, there were old friends and new friends. There was even singing of the Captain Planet theme song in the back of a limo on the way to dinner Saturday night. All I know is I am looking forward to JUST having a bridal shower scheduled for next weekend. Some of the photos are mine, others come courtesy of Stephen Lyford who is a huge beer fantatic and there are a TON of great pics of the kickoff of Philly Beer Week on his Picasa profile. Here we go!
Amie’s friend Ethan photobombed us
We only stayed at the Opening Tap for a little while. The lines were mad crazy, especially for the bigger breweries. Instead, we hopped a cab and made our way to Bierstube. If you run into a bartender named Andrew, he will supply you with the best beers ever. All I told him was to just surprise me with whatever he thought I’d love and he did very well! I highly recommend this bar.
This was yummy.
Saturday was one of my closest and dearest friend’s bachelorette party. I wasn’t feeling overly fantastic after a night of craft beering it up, but I rallied and made my way to her sister’s house. We had the nicest limo driver ever and ventured to Chaddford and Penns Woods Wineries. I have to say Penns Woods was my favorite not only based on the wine, but also the views.
I wish I had bought a bottle of the white merlot they had us try because it was fricken delicious. I’ll have to make a trip back. They also offer a yoga + wine tasting class on certain dates. I may have to hit that up. ;) The party was low key but a lot of fun. I made some new friends (one who is moving to Argentina and is totally down with me couch surfing her place).
All in all, I think the bride had a fabulous time!
Even though we didn’t do a whole lot other than sitting and eating and tasting wine, I felt totally beat Sat night. I was in bed before 11pm and didn’t roll out of bed until nearly 1pm. No shame. I needed that sleep. I got a few chores done and also made friends with a little cutie that seems to have made its home in our back yard.
He/she is not the first one we’ve discovered, but sadly this is the first alive one we’ve seen. I think one of the neighbor’s cats has been hunting them. :( I hope the little guy makes it, because it is too damn cute.
If you hadn’t noticed, no runs were done this weekend. I’m kind of pissed about that, but am afraid the RWRunStreak is going to have to end for me. I hate that I keep taking on these challenges then something happens to sideline me. The other week during soccer an opponent stepped on my left foot. I thought it was a bruise or something and it wasn’t terribly bothersome. However, the soreness is pretty much not changing and I’m now concerned more damage than just a bruise has been done. I’m going to schedule a visit with my doc to see if I can get it x-rayed and make sure I don’t have a fracture. Til then, no running for this girl. Shit happens, right?

That sounds fabulous! Beer and wine? Be still my beating heart. I love craft beers and wine tastings. We bought six bottles at the festival we went to Saturday. Ooops.
I hope your foot is okay. Shit does happen, so don’t worry about ending the streak.
I’d rather end up in a boot now than in a few months when I am traveling or training for the marathon. I am kicking myself for not buying the merlot. It was SO good.
Sounds like so much fun. Definitely a memorable weekend
Sorry about the foot though. Shit does happen. Happy healing my friend.
Thanks! The beer week festivities continue on, I’ll probably end up at a few more events in spite of trying to “lay low.” Hah.
I might do yoga if it involved a wine tasting!! Glad you had a nice weekend.
I think it said the cost is $35, you get a 1 hour outdoor yoga session on the winery grounds, plus a tasting for 4 wines, a complimentary glass, and 10% off any purchase after the tasting. Sounds like a good deal to me!
A yoga and wine tasting class? That may be the best idea I’ve ever heard.
I really think I’m going to try it!
That looks like a big bachelorette! How fun!
And it never is as peaceful as we like it, am I right? I had a crazy weekend, too. After thinking most of it would be spent at home… whoops
It was a lot of fun. Especially the limo ride since we were all acting like complete goofballs.
I went to those wineries last year! I really liked them both. Wine tasting is fun! So is drinking beer of course
I hope your foot feels better!
I would totally get married at Penns Woods if I wanted a winery wedding. The grounds were so pretty.
I am so in on a yoga/wine day if we can get some Philly bloggers together! How much fun would that be? I’m going to a bridal shower this weekend at a winery. I’m super pumped about it!
I hope your foot is better soon! What’s the next race for you on the books?
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if they’d do a group private thing if we got enough people. Either way, it sounds like a good idea to me! My next race is the Midsummer 5K in Ardmore on June 14, depending on how the foot feels.
nate loves that two hearted ale! your hair is so long and gorgeous! oooph hope your foot is ok! i basically did nothing this past weekend i was so beat from returning to work after that long vacay/jet lag. i drank lots of wine and slugged. it was glorious!
It’s a good IPA. I haven’t had my hair cut since mid-Decemeber! I’m thinking of getting it cut soon (my stylist refuses to take more than just the dead ends off, she loves it long) and may do this crazy lighter coloring I had done years ago that I loved. I need to switch something up.
Looks like a really fun weekend! I would love to sleep in… that usually means about 8am these days, with a 2 year old.
So sorry about your foot– you’re right, it happens. Better to stop the streak now than to end up with a much more serious problem in a few weeks!
It’s funny, at my age my mom already had 2 kids and was soon to be expecting a third. I can’t even fathom having one right now! Kudos to you and thanks for the get well foot wishes, hehe!
Love the photo bomb. Looks like you had fun! Cheers!
I’m still cracking up about it! Cheers indeed!
