Nerdy in San Diego Day 3

We partied a little hard Saturday night and were slow to get up Sunday.  I didn’t mind the extra sleep, though.  My brother’s buddy came over and we hung out while David’s girl JoHannah went back and got her beach stuff together at her place.  Once she got back we loaded up on some bikes and pedaled our asses off to get to the harbor.  I nearly took out a pigeon with my face as we made our way through downtown and heard David’s buddy McSween laughing his ass off behind me.  I don’t mind being the comedic relief.  ;)  We made it just in time to catch the ferry over to Coronado (apparently one of the BEST beaches in the US).  There was no shortage of awesome views on the way there.

I made Dave pose with Jo for a cute pic.

Aren’t they stupidly cute together?  I love them.  :)

Once over on the island we biked to a deli/convenience store that made gigantic sandwiches for practically nothing ($6??) and also sold beer by the individual can and bottle.  We grabbed our food and drinks and posted up on the beach.  I took a dip in the ocean, munched on the best crab & avocado sandwich ever, then passed out in a warm, beer-filled haze.  Napping on the beach is the best.

After napping, we biked over to Coronado Brewing Co. to grab a pint.  We hoped to get some apps, but the place was pretty packed.

I enjoyed the Orange Ave Wit and then we decided on picking up food and grilling instead of eating out.  On our way back to my brother’s place we passed by the Padres’ stadium (whatevs).

We picked up salmon, taters, corn, cucumbers, steak, and other things and had one of the best homemade dinners I’ve had in a long time.  My brother declared the whole day one of the best he’s had which just made me feel all sisterly and stuff.  This is a big step considering the squabbles we got into as kids (love you, Dave, haha).  It was the perfect ending to my last full day on the West Coast.  The next morning I loaded up my stuff and headed back east.  Since then I cannot seem to get the Cali sunshine off my mind.  I definitely plan to be there for a much longer stay on my next trip!  If you’ve never been to San Diego, go.  If you’re afraid you won’t want to come back, still go.  :)  You won’t regret it.

What’s the best place you’ve visited on vacation recently?

  1. Erg, my comment just got eaten. Let’s see if I can remember what I said? Something about needing to finally go to Cali ASAP and not having gone on a vaca in a long time, since I’m always using vacation time to fly home. This year I’m going on a big one though, can’t wait!

  2. That sandwich sounds and looks fantastic! :) San Diego looks beautiful. I was there a really long time ago and all I remember is the zoo.

I haven’t been on a vacation in a long time. The last vacation I took was to Disney World a few years ago. I’m looking forward to our honeymoon and relaxation, finally. ;)

  3. sometimes i party a little harder than normal because 1. i do it so infrequently it is nice to cut loose a bit 2. i still have a tiny bit of time left in my 20s :) i have never been there but maybe i will go to a sci conference out there in 2013! best place i’ve been this year hands down is prague :)

    • I hadn’t been around both my brothers at the same time since my sisters wedding in 2009. It was definitely an occasion to celebrate! You should go!!! I’ve been in a funk ever since leaving there, honestly. PS – way jealous you’ve been to Prague. :)
