Hello and happy Tuesday! Things seem to be moving along at a steady pace right now and I suppose that’s a good thing. I had a pretty fun weekend leading into a fairly decent Monday. No complaints here!
Friday Scott (my ex) and I went to the Phillies vs Diamondbacks game. Two of my friends were going and Scott figured I could use some cheering up from the previous week. It was nice of him to front the tickets for us. :) We had a pretty great view from the 400 level staring right down on homeplate. I of course enjoyed a Hop Devil and a 60 Min IPA during the game.
Sadly, the Phils lost the game, but we still enjoyed ourselves immensely. After the game, we hung out in K Lot while the traffic cleared out of the ballpark area. I tried a Dogfish beer I had yet to have and it wasn’t bad, but definitely not my favorite.
The strawberry flavor was okay, but it didn’t wow my tastebuds. Honestly, this makes the second DFH beer I’m not thrilled about. The other would be the Namaste. I won’t reject them, but I guess my IPA roots make me a little biased towards the hoppier beers.
After the game, Scott wanted to stop by my apartment to say hi to the kitties. We walked in and turned on the lights to find I had more than just two cats hanging in my apartment.
Yup, that’s a bat. Just hanging out on my curtain rod like it’s no big deal. When I went to take a pic it looked at me all, “dude, I was sleeping!” We weren’t exactly sure what to do at first, and frankly I just started laughing at the ridiculousness of there being a bat in my apartment. Scott tried to catch it with a towel and it started flying around the room. I opened the window to see if we could shoo it out the room and a second bat flew in. Two bats zipping around a small bedroom while Aki’s head was spinning from trying to watch them was beyond hysterical. We finally caught both and got them out safely. I guess I need to secure my closet (it had a spot slightly accessible to the attic) a little better to make sure no more furry visitors find their way in!
Saturday and Sunday were spent watching Olympics, hanging out, and some organizing around the apartment. I had enough excitement on Friday to last that weekend, hah! Aki kept me company on the couch while the coverage was going on.
Monday work was more or less uneventful. I had to repeat some stuff from the week before (thanks, science) and rushed home for my soccer game. It was a great night to play and we had a pretty awesome sunset.
How awesome does the skyline look? We kicked butt for our game. It was a little tiring since the other team had more subs than us (like 4 to 1) but we rocked out a 5-1 victory which means we’re still undefeated, even counting last season and those playoffs. We’re not sure if we’re putting together another team for fall, but it’s a lot of fun to be with such a great group of talented ladies.
I have co-ed soccer tonight. That league I’m less excited about mainly because we never have enough girls for us to sub (the guys have tons, ugh) and the fields are horribly maintained. This may be my last co-ed team for a while. We’ll see.

Wait, you went out with your ex? Girlfriend…. whyyyyy?
Yeah, I know. It actually went okay. No plans for us getting back together, just trying to be friendly enough for mutual people to be around us.
I know I said this on twitter, but so jealous that you enjoyed the Phils game! I haven’t been to one yet this season and not sure if I’ll be able to get down there. I’ll just have to live through you. And I LOVE the skyline picture!!! Good luck tonight at your game
Thanks! Tickets should be easier to come by now that they are in last place… (grumble).
If a bat were in my apartment, I would flip the f out. As in, I’d lock myself in a batless room and call people I know until someone came to help me dispose of it.
I don’t like things that can fly and dart at me. Even if it probably wouldn’t. The chance is still there.
That’s been the reaction from most people. I thought the little dude was kind of cute.
I always forget that bats are real. I mean, they seem like they should be imaginary right? Mammals that fly? Eek. I’m glad you got them out!
I was happy to see them. More bats means less mosquitos!
That’s really kind of funny about the bats. Not just one, but two. Go figure. And the skyline shot really is beautiful!
Thanks! Yeah, when something ridiculous happens, it’s usually a double dose. Haha!
Okay, that’s the second time in a week I’ve heard about a bat flying into someone’s home. So bizarre!
Crazy! Maybe they’re staging a takeover.
Bats?!!! I would have freaked out! You are so brave
I was more confused and baffled than brave, lol.
i do think bats are cute….from afar but i would have flipped if it was in my house. guess it’s because i work with rodents a lot, i want them separate from my personal life haha! your cats are so cute! i’m glad you and scott are on friendly terms too– time heals all wounds.
Is it weird I kind of wanted to hold it? I don’t work directly with rodents so I guess I don’t mind them visiting once in a while.
You’re basically BatWoman.
Will you be my sidekick?
Wait wait wait what!? You can get GOOD beer at the stadium? Redskins and Orioles stadiums only had the typical domestic beerwater last time I went to either. Jealous. What I would do for DFH at a game. Le sigh.
Come up to CBP for a game!
I love how beer is a re-occurring theme for this blog ^_^ hehe
