Fro-yo Meetup

Today wrapped up a lot better than it began, that’s for sure.  I was surprisingly able to finish my work in a timely manner and head down to Manayunk to meet Miss Ali.  I was in total space cadet mode as I nearly walked right past Whirled Peace.  Typical!  Luckily, Ali pays better attention than I do and stopped me from looking like a complete moron, haha.  After a brief, self-deprecating hello (on my part), we made our way inside to get the goods.

I went for the strawberry fro-yo this time, with raspberries, strawberries, and yogurt chips.  I forgot to take a pic of what Ali got and she was off from blogging today so no pics from her end either.  I spent much less this time around, just under $5.  With the heat and it feeling like a Monday, the fro-yo hit the spot.  We enjoyed our treats outside in the shade and shared as much info as we could cram into the hour and a half we were there.  It was fun to hang out and it turns out Ali is running the Philly Rock’n’Roll half I am (and Kace!).  It’s nice to know I’ll have a some blogger buds to enjoy the whole race experience with this time around!  Looking forward to scheduling more hangouts in the future!

After fro-yoing it up, I got home and changed to head to the gym.  Scott was ready to go (he beat me home today), but we waited a little (mainly bc I didn’t want to barf fro-yo).  Scott’s back has been bothering him (what is up with us?) so the plan was to do some lower body at a lower intensity than normal.  Here’s what we did:

  • 20 min elliptical, interval mode, level 12
  • Hamstring curl machine, 3 sets, 12 reps at 50lbs, then 60, then 70, finishing with 1 set for 20 reps at 40lbs
  • Kneeling ab twist machine, 3 sets 15 reps at 50lbs
  • Seated leg press machine, 3 sets at 60lbs, then 70, then 80
  • Good mornings, 2 sets with a 20lbs barbell, then 1 set with a 30lbs barbell
  • Lots of stretching

Neither of us brought our headphones this time which allowed us to chat during cardio.  It was nice to do the talk test and I kept my pace hard enough that I could only talk in short bursts.  Good stuff.

Gym was followed by a quick and easy dinner.  I am really enjoying making my way through the Flatout products I received.  Tonight we featured this little number:

I toasted two wraps in the oven at 350F for about 4-5 min.  The wraps were spread with hummus.  I put canned tuna on Scott’s wrap and deli-sliced turkey breast on mine (I can’t do canned tuna… not yet).  The wraps were topped with the remnants of a bag of romaine lettuce salad, mostly the carrots & cabbage.  A bag of Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers rounded off the meal.

I love when a dinner can be thrown together quite easily.  As does Scott when I push our dinner hour back a bit.

The veggies have a light, olive oil sauce that paired perfectly with the flavor of the wrap (Scott even dipped his wrap in it).  I’m really loving all of these products from Flatout.  It’s great they were sent to me, but I seriously cannot find anything bad with what I’ve tried.  The wraps didn’t get soggy with the hummus or meats being added and stayed together until the end.  The stats for these guys don’t hurt either.  Check out their website for all the info and flavors.

I’m now enjoying watching the recap of the total spanking the Phils handed to the Marlins (sorry FL peeps!) and sipping on a Peche.  All in all, a good start to a short week!
