To the Beach!

I just got the go ahead to leave work for the weekend!  Beyond excited!  I’ll be heading down to the beaches to enjoy some time with the fam (my brother Dave is coming into town from Cali!), see a bunch of friends (yoga tomorrow morning with one of them!), and get in some quality beach time… oh yeah and a nine mile run at some point.  The weather might require some sweatpants on the beach, but I could care less.  I am enjoying this unofficial last weekend of summer.  :)  Cannot wait!  My mom lacks interwebs, so other than some phone-uploads, you won’t see much in full-posting til likely Tuesday nightish.  Don’t get too excited.

You’re probably sick of hearing about them, but my crazy neighbors did yet another puzzling thing recently.  I am assuming that this shape is on purpose and not just covering a convenient crack in the window (because then you should just replace the window and not stick tape on it).  The image below depicts what to me can only be a symbol declaring one of the inhabitants (there are four, but can have more than that at any given time) is all about rebellion and disorder.  Chaos!  Anarchy!  Yes, we suburbanites are so hard core…

Really, this is most likely saying, “cops, please stop by here!”  Also, their deck used to have a full railing extending all the way around.  Mr. Neighbor (whose mom actually owns the house, I feel bad for her) cut off the top half and stapled a rope to make it more nautical.  Looks great, doesn’t it?  I’m going to be so happy when this lease is over and done with.  Until then, I shall escape to the refuge of the beautiful DE/MD beaches, at least for this weekend.  8-)

What are your Labor Day plans?

Befuddled

I was having a very weird day yesterday.  I won’t get into it, but my mood was flopping all over the place and then the earth decided to have a little rumble session in the afternoon.  Talk about a complete shot to your productivity.  In all seriousness, I am glad the quake was minor so we could laugh about how stupidly we all reacted to it.  I sat at my desk thinking the construction crew redoing our front entrance (to look exactly the same as before?) ran into the building.  After realizing my chair wouldn’t be moving if that were the case I thought, “well this isn’t normal.”  At no point did I think, “I should duck for cover or run outside!”  Scott would attribute this to my “aimlessness” which he observed when Terror Behind the Walls failed to illicit any “holy crap!!!” reactions when guys jumped out at us with fake chainsaws.  Oh well.

When I got home from work, I did have one surprise sitting on my porch that started to perk me out of the funkathon I was mentally having.

What is this little wonder?  Oh, it’s just the giveaway I won on CJ’s blog.  ;)   The package included some awesomesauce pancake-making goodies.

I even got a cute little card from the owners of the Wayne location of Great Harvest Bread Co.  I’m totally digging the cute spatula.  I can never have too many with all the baking I do.  Thanks again, CJ, for hosting the giveaway!

We did make it to the gym.  The plan was an easy three miles, but when I got on the treadmill I wanted off ASAP, so I cranked it up and did a faster 1.5 miles.  I’m officially DONE with the Nike+ shoe tracker.  At the beginning, the difference between the treadmill distance and the Nike+ distance was 0.04 miles.  Not bad.  By the end of my run, it was 0.13 miles.  Thumbs down.  I finished off doing some lower body strength moves and called it a day.

Later on, we had a fantasy football draft that made zero sense.  Scott and I joined a league of a friend of mine to help fill it.  Our other league is very competitive and full of guys that know their shiz.  This league… not so much.  In the first round, Percy Harvin (wide receiver) went as the 8th pick.  Normally, you go running backs (for anyone who had not seen my tweet, I did get Adrian Peterson!).  Not long after, a defense was drafted, then kickers started going, and Scott and I just gobbled up any first string players we could find (which was a lot).  One guy has almost an entire team of Eagles players.  Now, I love me some Philly sports, but I am not going to draft more than two guys from one team because during a bye week you lose all those players.  We only have four bench spots, so this guy is going to have to either drop half his team to play, or just take a loss.  I asked him about this and he replied, “I don’t plan to lose.”  Ok.  Other key highlights were people talking trading before the draft was over and someone declaring in the 10th or 11th round of 14 that they didn’t have any running backs yet.  I was befuddled.

I am feeling much more up today than I did yesterday.  Even after seeing this first thing in the morning.

That would be Mr. Neighbor parking his damn work truck over past his side of the fence.  See that little yellow bin?  That’s the recycling.  It comes after 7:30am on Thursdays.  I have been putting it in front of the garage because he seems to think I don’t need to use the space in front of our fence for our trash.  Since we leave at 7:00ish to go to work, I have to pull my car out of the garage  Thursdays, move all of the recycling in front of it after closing the door, then go on our merry way.  When his truck isn’t obstructing the whole fence, he puts his cans there.  To quote Scott, “the only rude thing this guy has yet to do is physically park in our garage.”  I really wouldn’t be surprised.

Today’s plan is 6 miles of tempo running!  The weather is gorgeous so I think I’ll take it outside.  ;)   Phew, this was a wordy post!

PS – I nearly forgot to give a shout out to two very special ladies today.  First is my new BFF Jordan, happy 24th!  Hope it was awesome and full of brewskis.  Second is a very happy 21st to my sister Anna!  Don’t be too hungover tomorrow, lovely!

DSC01178 Anners is on the right.  Isn’t she a beauty?

Do you think Mr. Neighbor will be able to top his antics any further?
