Go With the Flow

Today got off to a much better start than yesterday did.  I decided to do my best to keep my spirits up and what better way than with my favorite to-go breakfast: Wawa!

IMG_20120411_075124 And for the curious car types, I drive a manual 2007 Hyundai Accent hatchback.  ;)   Work was uneventful but productive and I managed to get home at a decent hour.  The weather shifted a little cooler than I am preferring, but no biggie.  I’m sure we’ll all be complaining about the heat & humidity in a couple months.  I was especially excited to be heading to Hotbox again for tonight’s last class.  My yoga wardrobe is incoherent and kind of unmatched, but I like it.  Today I busted out of a new top from MPG and the hatha pants from Lucy.

IMG_20120411_182049 IMG_20120411_182105 IMG_20120411_182306 Front, side, and back.  The tank is made from a sweat-wicking material and I love that it is loose-fitting.  Practice tonight was nothing short of amazing, and we did a lot of good vinyasa flows and breathing.  Brad is probably my favorite instructor at that place and I am very excited for the special Red Hot Chili Peppers themed class this weekend!  You also can now see that I am not lying when I saw I HAVE NO ASS.  Sad face.  Also please excuse the gross floor.  It’s from when the roof was leaking and the room is scheduled for a makeover.  Oy!

The class was just what I needed to de-stress from yesterday’s madness.  I felt so much more focused and was able to really get into the breathing.  One thing I need to work on is crow pose.  I cannot for the life of me get it.  I either lack the upper arm strength, or it’s not that and I am just a doofus at figuring out the balance.  Goal for the next month or so!

In sporting news!  The Philles DESTROYED the Marlins and I found out today that Hunter Pence’s walk-off song is Skrillex’s Breakin’ A Sweat off Bangarang (GREAT album).  I rocked it on my way back from yoga tonight.  ;)

IMG_20120411_210807 He might have just become my favorite Phillies player, or a close second behind Cliff Lee.  <3  The Flyers tied it up and are heading into overtime.  Fingers crossed they come out with the win.  The Sixers won and it’d be a nice Philadelphia Victory Trifecta, eh?

So that was my Wednesday.  Nothing too dramatic and just a lot of going with the flow.  I like days like that.

Props if you know where the post title comes from, btw.

Super Tired

Yoga happened on Wednesday evening and it was glorious.  Leaving the studio feeling happy and sweaty is well worth the investment I made on that 3-month pass.  I’ve already scheduled four visits for next week as well.  Another thing that happened?  A run.  I didn’t do the five mile tempo as planned and instead just strapped on the Garmin and ran 2.5 miles in about 21:07.  The run wasn’t terribly inspiring or fun, but I got out there and did it.  I also managed to whip dinner together last minute.

I’m going to admit that I cheated and used a sauce packet instead of making the pesto from scratch.  Time savers, people, I need them.  I felt beat at 10pm and hoped the last two days of workouts would really help me stay asleep.  It’s a problem I’ve been having for months and it’s driving me nuts.  Sadly, I woke up around midnight and couldn’t get back to sleep til around 4:30amish.  Ugh.  A lot of this is happening today.

Where would I be without caffeine?!  Asleep on my desk, and in trouble, most likely.  ;)   Here’s to it being Friday!  Did this week take forever or what?  And anyone off today, KISS IT!  Just kidding.  I envy you though.  <3

Electrified By The Sound

I had another awesome time at HotBox Yoga tonight.  Again, the class was less than 10 people, and this time we had Jane as our instructor.  I did an assisted tripod balance.  I’ve always stayed away from any inverting balancing poses.  This was my first time actually trying a pose in that category.  I had to have a little assistance from Jane, but it was really fun to try and I think I am going to be a little more daring with future yoga poses.  ;)

This week has been flying by.  I had a bit of stuff planned and most important was Tuesday night.  As I’ve mention before, I’m a big fan of the band 311 and have been since I was 13.  I’ve been to their shows more times than I remember (I need to count sometime) and even have the set list from my first concert.  311 is also what drew me to talk to Scott in the first place.  ;)   So, with him being back in PA, I made point to get tickets to their summer tour with Sublime w/ Rome.

The show was actually sold out, which is a first for Penn’s Landing (for me at least).  The crowd was… interesting.  A lot of kids were confused 311 wasn’t the opener (this is what happens when you don’t have a lead singer for 15 years… RIP Bradley).  Being that we’re old and adult-y, we only had two beers the entire show (Yards Extra Pale Ale, thankyouverymuch).

Fact:  Scott is wearing the shirt I bought at my first 311 show when I was 17.  It is very old, and it means I really like him to part with such a sentimental item.  :)

Sublime’s set was fun, but it made me miss Bradley’s vocals.  Rome is close, but he doesn’t hit the notes quite the same way and so I’m a little biased.  After their set, we grabbed our second beers and I spotted my sister’s bf and eventually my sister.

Doesn’t she make me look pale?  This is what happens when recessive genes kick in, blonde and blue eyes.  ;)   It was awesome to see her and have her share in something I enjoy so much.

My sister and her dude wanted to be closer in the crowd, which I told them I got out of my system the first 4-5 times I saw 311, hah.  I’m just not a packed-in-the-crowd kid anymore.

The downside of hanging back?  Not being able to take good pictures.  The upside?  Plenty of room for dancing!  I don’t think I stopped during the whole set.  Speaking of which, here is the list of the songs they played:

Jackpot
From Chaos
All Mixed Up
Sunset In July
Large in the Margin
What Was I Thinking
Count Me In
Beautiful Disaster
Stealing Happy Hours
Applied Science
Wild Nights
Do You Right
Mindspin
Rock On
Loco
Nutsymtom
Amber
Time Bomb
Creatures (For a While)
***
Omaha Stylee
Down
Fuck the Bullshit

It was a great mix of some old favorites and their newer albums.  I was really excited to hear Count Me In, which is my current favorite of their newest record.

The concert was a blast and wrapped up around 10:45pm.  We said goodbye to my sis and made our way to the car.  What we didn’t plan was that the lot was only going to be able to let out one car at a time for 30 min because of a short light and them blocking a lane to leave.  Ugh.  I’d never parked there before, and I will never park there again.  We got home around 12:15am and I was beat the entire day yesterday.  When Scott got home from work around 6pmish, I decided then I wasn’t making it to the gym and my body just needed to rest.  This probably makes me lame, but it was worth it.  :)   I feel completely recharged and ready for a weekend of relaxing home at the DE beaches.  I’ve got a six miler on Saturday and I’m thinking the Ocean City, MD boardwalk is going to be the likely location.  SO excited.

Do you have a favorite singer/band?  If so, do you go to their shows?
